MinEx AssociatesAssessment approach

Make the evidence useful to the decision.

A focused review starts with the decision, weighs the records that can inform it and makes uncertainty useful: which gap matters, what could resolve it and who should own the next check. Scope, permitted inputs, deliverable and fee are agreed before work begins.

A focused review starts with the decision, weighs the records that can inform it and makes uncertainty useful: which gap matters, what could resolve it and who should own the next check. Scope, permitted inputs, deliverable and fee are agreed before work begins.

The sequence below adapts the four-step imagery workflow proposed in a February 2026 MinEx presentation: frame the question, review imagery and mapped context, record uncertainty, then choose a proportionate check. For any current assignment, scope and required expertise are agreed around the project.

  1. Frame the decision

Define the decision, timing, project question and permitted inputs. Clarify data access, quality, coordinate references, licence and confidentiality before review.

  2. Review the evidence

Compare relevant reports, imagery, survey records and geological context. Record each source, date, version, coverage and what it can support.

  3. Make uncertainty visible

Separate source observations, assumptions and interpretation. Note missing information, conflicts, alternative explanations and the limits of any conclusion.

  4. Agree a proportionate next check

Identify which additional evidence could change the view, who should obtain or review it and how it relates to the next project commitment.

01Evidence should travel with the claim

A substantive statement is easier to assess when its evidence travels with it: source title and date, relevant page or section, what the source supports, key limits and any conflicting record.

02Choose checks for the decision

Profiles, spectral patterns and mapped features can frame a question. To assess what an interpretation supports, compare it with suitable geological controls, samples, drilling or field observations chosen for the decision and agreed scope.
